Things one Culturnik believes define the List

That the List is the repository of all knowledge

That if specific knowledge cannot be found on the List, why then I cannot be larsed to know it

That the Culture may have no flag, but if the List had one, it would fly the Jolly Bob

That insistence on on-topicness is akin to being a fellow traveller, or even a damnable card-carrying Red Communist

That if we all stopped faffing about and got to work no good would ever come of it

That in-jokes are not a sign of weakness, except as they occur in other subcultures and communities

That the lurkers are divine

That Patrick has a good view

That beer and curry are the nectar and ambrosia of the post-modern age

That post-modernism is a fraud perpretrated by the Red Communists in conjunction with the Birchers, sponsored by Baby Gap

That Dallas is hell on earth

That Listcest is startling but also good and fine

That computers are crap

That otium sine litteris mors est

That AaDB is categorically *not* a Culture novel

That fnarr and ooo-err missus are phworr

That Ants, Pigeons, Skwerls, Wolfhounds, and Posthumans would all make fine Overlords, but that Koi-san is both wise and hungry

That I am unanimous in this

Who Is Responsible for All This? 2002 april 10 at 04:59 Brad DeLong
The Carlyle Group, in conjunction with the British East India Company and House Harkonnen. Nothing must interrupt the flow of spice!

I detest nearly all of these credo points but I assert my intention to defend them to the death if necessary (or cave in at the first opportunity given a decent out).

I agree... mostly 2003 march 28 at 16:13 Zakalwe
AaDB COULD be a culture novel, maybe someone dropped a load of equipment in the system by accident
