| Hey, we could have a RetroOSWar! It's 1987. Which platform | should I use?

What a concept!

The future of reality TV - a simulated 1987 environment is recreated, with only hardware and software of that time available as well as a standard phone line. Two teams of modern-day techies in the RetroOSWar House are tasked with setting up a hardware configuration, installing an OS, and then somehow getting a TCP/IP stack onto it. The first team to successfully ping www.goatse.cx from their system wins! Kind of like scrapyard challenge, for *real* nerds.

The house would be all 1987-styled as well, to the point that the modern-day techies find it emotionally distressing. This has the dual effect of sharpening their need to ping www.goatse.cx and win the game while at the same time scrambling their minds and inhibiting their techie skills.

"Welcome to the RetroOSWar House! These two teams of unemployed techies are trapped in 1987; and they desperately need to ping the future! What platform will they go for? What OS will they use? Remember, there are no wizards or InstallShield scripts to help you here!"

I wish we had a TV station.
